What is the best place locally to put in fresh water and then motor on out?

This is so I won't be getting too bad a dunking for my trailor. :D

I believe Chalk is on the money. Others fish around there alot more than me and I'm sure they'll chime in.

That could make for a long ride it seems...

How about Spring Creek?

Spring Creek ramp is good. It was $5 to launch last time I was there. LOTS of oyster bars; but, there is a fish or two around there.

How do you find that ramp?

Navigating out can be tricky if any of the channel markers are missing..ask me how I know this

It's 5.5 miles from the fort to the lighthouse.

I'm not sure the water at the Spring Creek Landing is fresh. It's not that far from Oyster Bay. Maybe a mile. And, as mentioned, tricky to navigate.

Spring Creek Highway, road will split. Stay to the right. You'll pass Spring Creek Restaurant and the ramp will be on your left. Pretty much a dead end. Like TC said, the ramp isn't far from Oyster Bay so I don't know how fresh the water is. And as you can pretty well tell, you should take it slow comin' out of there the first time.

I should also say that I'm pretty sure my directions are accurate; but, I haven't launched there in quite awhile.

Your directions are accurate. Turn left on the dirt road behind the resturant.

Redbelly, I might also add, if you're coming from Thomasville, It's about 12 miles further to Spring Creek than the fort.

The Econfina ramp is freshwater. Not a bad drive from Thomasville. Never checked the distance out of the river. Probably a few miles.

Thanks for the 411.

I will be in a John boat, so navigating will take it slow at first. Sounds like less of a boat ride.

A painter told me that's where he fishes and has a john like mine. Said it's good fishing around the OB's. Also not a long ride to git there. :D
Also the fresh water flush is good. That might depend on the tide too.

Many years ago I went out at the fort and think I remember it being a longish ride.
Spring creek may not be as crowded.
