Fishin' Buddy Michael and I drove down Friday night. Hit the water just behind RHTFISH early Saturday a.m. Headed towards Aucilla and shut her down in 3.5 ft. Crystal clear water in that depth by the way. Anything deeper was murky. The trout bite was on right away. Caught a few dinks and then started getting a keeper here and there. Was using electric chicken under a ct tipped with pink Gulp strips on a 20" leader. Caught quite a few catfish as well. to be expected this time of year I guess. Floating grass was terrible. No topwater, no mirrolure.......no way!

Here's where it gets good....for us anyway. We drifted in to around 2 ft. and floated over a pothole. REDS scattered evrywhere!! We drifted over that pothole for the rest of the day. Awesome red action on the flats, at least a mile from the grass. Incredible! I didn't take a pic of every one we caught, but I did get a few. I'll post 'em as I get time.

There's a great story with this fish. I'll make it short. I hooked it on 8lb. test. The line broke just above the popping cork a minute or so into the fight. I had him by the boat. Fishin' Buddy Michael grabbed a reel with a lure on it and threw it out and hooked the dadgum popping cork. I couldn't believe it. He fought that fish for another 2 or 3 minutes before I netted him. We high-fived and got right back at it!

Total was 4 keeper trout to 19 inches, 1 25" red and 1 23 1/2 " red. We didn't keep count of the reds but I'd guess 10, most of them keepers.

Good to see you again, :smt006
Eileen & I had a good time also Saturday. I finally broke the slump I was having not putting a keeper fish in the boat for about 4 weeks, fished in the same area as you, caught a 17" red under a cork using a red gulp curly tail jig, it had 3 spots on each side, released him, caught a 15" red a couple a cast later.
The trout bite was pretty good too, caught a 17", 21" all on the same bait.

Then put on a live pin fish, got a hit and finally landed a 30" red, Eileen tried to take pictures but the batteries were dead, no pictures, :smt013 Then caught a 26" trout on a live pin fish. :lick:
Left right after low tide.
Tally for the day
1 sail cat
3 trout
0 reds (keepers)
