I was just wrapping up an afternoon of swimming at my buddies house with my 4 and 1 year old, when my buddies wife asked, "what time is it"? I told her 4:00, she then looks at my buddy and asks him if he still wanted to go fishing, she'll not only watch their kids, but mine too! Well, we of course said yes and with-in ten minutes had his boat hooked up, poles rigged and cooler filled with fishing beverages. We managed to get on the water with two hours left of a good falling tide. Now we have a "secret" little spot that we normally fish in one of the no-name creeks and even with a high tide you have to get out and push. So here we are two hours away from a negative tide and we had about 1/4 mile to go before we'd hit the creek mouth and ultimately deeper water. My buddy has a nice G3, and its a great boat when it has water around it, but with no water, not so much. Needless to say we pushed and pulled this thing 1/4 mile (stopping numerous times to catch our breath) into the creek mouth, fired up the motor and got to our favorite spot. After cast netting some bait, the fishing was on We nailed about 20 keeper size reds in about two hours, savoring two for a future meal. By the time we managed to push the boat back into the bay, we still had to wait another two hours in the dark before the tide came in enough to get us home.
This by far was one of the best trips I've had in a while, but after telling my wife what we had to do to get in and out of our spot in order to catch fish, she just looked at me and shook her head.

exhausting yourself pushing a boat across sand to get to a spot. Sounds about normal to me. Why was the wife shaking her head? She probably walks a mile across a 150 degree parking lot at the mall, wades through thousands of people, waits in lines and spends untold amounts of money. I'll take pushing a boat anyday. Good job.
