Livewell Troubleshooting

Okay the rocker switch is flipped and the light on the switch works, nothing by way of water going into the well...

It was working fine on Sunday at first, fish were swimming around in there and then I looked down and the switch was still on but no water comming into the well. Threw the switch a few times with no action whatsoever.

Pump is brand new, its not making any noise or anything when I play with the switch. Seems electrical. How does one trouble shoot the electricity between the switch and the pump?????? What would you look at first? Fuse, wiring...

First thing I would do "if the switch light turns on" is flip it on and tap the pump a few times to see if it starts up :-D I would also check that some fishing line hasn't gotten wraped up in the impeller of the pump

If that ain't it... then let Jumptrout launch ya. If the jolt don't get it started.... it won't matter anyway

1) Disconnect wires going to pump
2) with Voltmeter, check for voltage on said wires
3) If no voltage, trace back and measure at each connection until you get voltage
4) If you have voltage on the wires remove pump and inspect for junk also make sure it (the impeller) spins by hand.

If you have voltage on the wires I would suspect the pump. Fuse should be good if the switch lights up.

Time to trade  ....Based off it's new....I wouldn't trouble shot nothing and carry to the dealer...but gas is probably going to be close to $4.00 a gallon soon and they would say it will be a couple of days, meaning two trips to Perry....Pretty good advice so far  ...I would check for power at the motor, if you don't have power at the motor and the fuse is good it could be the switch...never assume the switch is good, ask me how I know this  :smt010

First thing I would check is the inlet valve on the inside of livewell make sure it didn't get turned off.

Did you have water in the bilge when you pulled the plug? If so the hose between the pump and the livewell came loose. Otherwise, what the other guys said is correct.
Trash
fuse to pump
impeller stopped up
switch
loose wire
cut wire
etc.

Silly, they don't teach electrical device troubleshooting. They teach you how to sue when you get electrocuted by said device. :-D

Luke, I would post your problem on the Hewes site and see what you get.
No sound from pump its ele. Check fuses or see if you can see the wireing going to the pump. Look at it from the starbord side lid. You also have valves that can turn off all water coming in. But I say its a fuse or a loose wire.

I checked out everything last night still nothing when I hit the switch.

Fuse in console is a 5amp and it looks good (little wire in middle still intact).

Threw the sea cock a few times and nothing.

The screen on the bottom is clear of trash.

Mesh filter in bilge removed and it is clear.

The in-line fuse and the pump itself are the only things I haven't messed with.

Edit- This is what I am working with

If it's new/under warranty take it back.
