I had State Farm until April 2005. Between April 2002 and April 2005 I had two claims in a 13 month period for a total of $1500. State Farm sent me a notice that they would no longer insure my boat. I spoke with my agent and also communicated in writing with the Lakeland office. It was my feeling that although regrettable, two claims in 13 months was not unreasonable given the area we boat in. I have been a State Farm customer for 43 years with no break, other than 8 months, when I initially entered the military in 1966. I have never been canceled or refused coverage. I have continued a family belief that State Farm was the place to go for good products and service. My parents, who are still customers, guided me in that direction. I have also guided my 3 sons in a similar direction. My wife and I currently hold State Farm policies on two cars, homeowners, and two life insurance policies. We receive a safe drivers discount from State Farm, yet the boat policy was still canceled. I purchased a policy from Progressive for less money with greater coverage. I have not had a claim so I can't speak to service. I can say that I received very good service from State Farm related to the claims I had. My biggest issue was receiving NO response from State Farm's Lakeland office at all to my written communication. My local Agent was very responsive and tried to help.

Liberty Mutual

Just got it as I rolled over all of my policies from All State to Liberty Mutual. Did this after a couple weeks of shopping around - it is a royal pain to do but ended up increasing coverage on home and cars while reducing my overall premium by about a 1/3. The Liberty Mutual covers emergency services too ie Boat Tow. Problem is I pay out of pocket and then file a claim. Not sure I like that part of it but overall I think it is a good package. So far no claims with the boat and I HOPE to keep it that way

I have a friend who has it through BoatUSA or something like that and they love. A little more expensive than mine but things like Boat Tow, etc are covered up front....

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

I have mine through USAA but I think I am going to look into progressive. They have that replacement deal right. Is that value of the item today or retail value of it used?
