Looking for a good, cheap/free mapping software

Post by grim reeler »

Does anyone know a good peice of software that will allow me to manually enter gps coordinates and then overlay them on a chart?

Accuracy doesnt need to be precise, i just want something that will show me the relative position of different waypoints to each other. My gps doesnt download points and doesnt have charting options.

:-D Garmin has a waypoint manager for $25 or so that has a crude shoreline base map in it. And you can manually enter way points. Also if you have a 76 series garmin you can download or upload points and tracks. :-D

Only one good solution.

Maptech Chart Navigator and NOAA charts.....both free

You can even print em out.....

There IS a learning process to using it though...

Hooked

OH, and if you need help with it, just PM me all the good spots and I will map them on it for you.....How is that for good friends... :-D

I have been playing with the maptech/noaa charts thing. Sir reel pm'd me the link to a thread with the info. Its pretty promising, but I need to spend a bit more time with it.
