Sleep in til 0530 this morning - got my nephew up and we slid out the door at 0545. Slid the Ghostrider into the bay around 0615 and headed out to a honey hole that I hadn't violated in awhile.
Upon coming off plane the scene was a fine display of flying mullet and fleeing baitfish...My nephew has never caught a speckled trout or redfish...he wasn't to familiar with a baitcaster, so I rigged him up an old reliable secret weapon on a Zebco 33 and told him to throw and reel...ezpz
To make it fair, I dug deep into the tackle box and decided to use tackle that I had, but that never used....I make a couple of casts and get some hits, then I get a hit....set the hook....hand the rod to my nephew, few minutes later and he lands a nice 23" trout.

I make a few more casts and get nailed again, I hand the rod to my nephew and he reels in the first red of the day.

We work the bank, watching the schools of mullet fleeing for their lives.....I get a short strike, but see three nice sized reds swimming away...I tell my nephew to keep chunking and winding....bam, he gets nailed....a nice battle ensues....end product is his very first self caught 27" redfish

We continue to work the bank and picked up a trout and a redfish or three...I finally get into the game with two nice redfish 23-24"

We move across the bay looking for some cleaner water, couldn't find any, but I managed to fool this 23" trout.

Nice half day on the pond with my nephew, can't wait til next time....
