Carrabelle 9/2/06

My son and I met my FIL and a friend at Carrabelle Marina for an offshore trip Saturday. Underway 8:30, headed towards the backside of Dog Island to pick up some pinfish. Managed about 40 or so before the blowfish took all of our small hooks.
Didn't matter though, cut bait was the bait of choice today.
Headed off the east end of Dog Island making for the V-tower, but checking holes along the way.
Managed 5 nice grouper (3 gags and 2 red) and a boxfull of red and lane snapper. Ended up south of the V-Tower in 90' water, catching and releasing all the short red grouper we could stand. I thought the red grouper fisheries was in trouble.
Caught most of them on squid and spanish sardines. Live bait didn't seem to do the trick this time.
It was a great day on the big pond. Can't wait til next time.
