WIth a big moon and a 3:30 am high tide Mark K and I have picked tonight (actually tomorrow morning) as our first ever attempt to fish saltwater at night. As rookies we could use any suggestions or tips you can give us. Can you catch trout and reds at night? What are the most productive lures? Only topwater? Are they generally in the creeks or on the flats?

One recommendation I can give you is be back in by 7 or 7:30 if you want to keep the skeg on your motor......
My wife and I did a moonlight outing at Econfina back in the spring. When the sun came up, we actually started fishin'

I tried the full moon about June 11th and had a great time. I threw topwater for abt. 45 minutes and never had a taker. I switched over to a Berkley Gulp shrimp in the "glow" color under a Cajun Thunder and did ok. Had 3 big keepers. But, it was the serenity of being there at night that made the trip. I had my wife and my 15 year old and it was just wonderful. Good luck and idle in the river.

Sure wish I could join you as "moonlitin at Anky" is one of my
favorite trips to make. I fish the same areas at night I like to fish
early morning. My preference is topwater. The last couple of night trips the floating grass made topwater very difficult so I switched to a
jig. I agree about getting back in unless you want to stay out
quite a while. Should be a great night! Enjoy and report.
