We were prefishing for a trout tournament today. The trout bite was slim to none for us. Had we been fishing for Sailcats I think we may be the winners.
Later in the day we were fishing a trusty trout area when brother Butch hooked into a really nice redfish. In the slot but definitely on the upper end. After coaxing him to the boat 3 times on 6# line and not getting a net under him, were getting anxious. The 4th and final time near the boat a 6 foot shark comes charging across the bar and nails a beautiful redfish right down to his anal fin only inches away from net range.
Actually the first bet was with Chalk, saying you would beat him at the scales on tournament day.
He graciously said he would split the bet with you if you would lose.
Or something like that.???????
Were you at St. Marks lighthouse about 4:00? I think we were pulling our boat out of the water at the same time you were. I was with my teenage son and a friend of his on a 19' Twin Vee.
If so, that's a pretty awesome fishing machine you got.

I spent most of yesterday over in Goose Creek area and caught more sailcats than I could believe. Late yesterday afternoon you couldn't put a skitterwalk in the water without em chasing it..and usually getting both sets of hooks well attached !
And caught four trout all day..although three were nice ones...
