Launched around 10:00 AM to fish rising tide. Dreary looking day. It threatened to rain all day and you could hear thunder coming from way offshore. The rain never got to us and the overcast skies kept things comfortably cool.

Fished several spots starting at the stakeline out to 14'. Caught a fish or two off most spots so we brought back dinner. 4 keeper size trout and 6 black sea bass in the box at the end of the day. Non-stop action kept two teenagers entertained but a lot of shorts and trash. Used gulps and regular plastic jigs on the bottom. Still too much grass to do much of anything else.

Put a barely legal black sea bass under a cork and had a huge shark take it (looked like a tiger). Didn't take long for him to bite through the mono leader but still a few seconds of pretty intense excitement.

A tiger shark on the flats I don't think I've ever heard of or seen a tiger shark on the flats. Bulls, sand, spinner (once) and a rare hammerhead, but never a tiger.

HEY MAN, THOSE TIGER SHARKS ARE ON THE FLATS AND JUST ABOUT EVERYWHERE ELSE IN APPALACH BAY. I HAVE KILLED 4-5 BETWEEN 5-8' THE LAST TWO YEARS.

I only got a quick glance from a distance so I'm not positive, but he looked like a tiger shark to me. I know he wasn't a hammerhead. For what it's worth, the hook-up occurred at almost the exact same spot where me and some friends caught, landed, and released (to the consternation of my friend's 8 year old ) a pretty nice-sized tiger shark.

I've actually caught quite a few hammerheads on the shallow flats but never that much size to them.

We had a big one (over 10ft) come up next to my 16ft boat 2 years ago when we were out by Peter's rock and that was a sight for sure. Made my boat look small! It was also Scallop season! They're out there.

Dang, I wonder what is causing Tigers to come in so close...must be the effects of red tide. I would love to have a 10 footer on a rod'n real in skinny water. Should be quite a show.
