Fishing Report
Apalachee Bay/St. Marks
The water temperature in Apalachee Bay has dropped eight degrees, something the fish appreciate as much as the anglers. That the fish are becoming frisky was evident last Sunday when every angler fishing in the Team Seatrout Tournament weighed in a limit of trout. Most of the fish were caught in shallow water. Many of the teams also caught redfish in the same areas. The winning team of Carl and Brandon Stubbs caught their 13-pound, 5-ounce stringer on the flats between Grey Mare Rock and Redfish Point. Redfish have been feeding along the grass line at the top of the high tide. There were numerous reports of tailing redfish along the shoreline and around the mouths of the creeks. Gold spoons and topwater plugs will be effective in these areas. As fall approaches, trout and mackerel should begin gathering in large numbers on the flats and feeding heavily on schools of baitfish. At the same time, grouper will move into 20 feet of water in places like Dog Ballard, Wakulla Regional and St. Marks artificial reefs.

Lanark Village/Carrabelle
Trout fishing is still good on the grass flats off the east end of Lanark Reef. Another good spot is the edge of the grass line along the southern edge of the reef opposite the Village Mart. Reds and trout are still being caught in the small cove on the bay side of St. George Island just west of East End. Redfish also continue to be caught in the “stumpâ€
