Had the pleasure of spending a few days with Tincan, Birddog, Reel Slow, Jumptrout51 and Butch on the Big Pond....

Launched at Timber Island bright and early Friday morning, headed west found alot of bait fish and blues, as well as few trout....Moved back east and found a few redfish...moved back west again found a few more trout...Went way east and found alot of Floating grass :-? ...We decided to try a few spots on out....found a few trout around some holes...Tincan landed this nice 24" trout, released to fight again another day

Image

Day two started out even earlier....running in the dark headed east again..fished a great spot, bait & bottom, but no game fish :-?

Moved back east to a nice redfish spot....ended up catching 6 or 8 redfish....We were milling around...I see a big redfish buried in the grass, looked like a shark had been after him....I tell Tincan look at the red, it looks dead....as the spoon rolls near it's mouth, it rises up and inhales the spoon....I rear back and the fish takes off.....ended up running under the motor and trolling motor twice before it made it to the net....Chalk's best red to date 34"...what a monster

We decide we are in a trout tournament and better start trout fishing...off to the east....After a little wrastl'n and verbal abuse I find myself on the bow running the boat :o  ....We start fishing the grass line and Tincan scores with a nice keeper....We start picking up fish here and there...I finally lock into a nice keeper....got it to the boat, it was 23" and weighed 4.45 lbs....We had one red in the cooler and another in the livewell....Tincan caught a bigger red than the one in the livewell, so we upgraded...Fished around for another hour or so and headed to the weigh in.

We ended up finishing second to Birddog and Reel Slow, but we won Big Trout...Not a bad day on the pond

Appreciate the ride Tincan, hope you learned something   ...Special thanks goes to Birddog for allowing us to stay with them in Carrabelle

It was a heck of a weekend. An experience I'll never forget. And, the fishin was enjoyable, too. A big thanks to Birddog for the accomodations.

Congrats to Birddog and Reel Slow on the win.

In all fairness, Jumptrout and Butch finished third, and congratulations are in order for them. Jumptrout complained he was fishing under a handicap. Something about a missing tackle box. :-D

Reel slow was anxious to get home after the weigh in. Said his back was killing him. Something about having to carry Birddog all weekend.

Partner, I did learn a few things this weekend. I hope you learned a little, too. I'll be glad to share more of my anchoring techniques any time you like.

As always, partner, enjoyed the company. Ain't nobody I'd rather wrassel with. :-D

I had a great partner for the tournament in Atticus. We caught a lot of fish but the trout just would not come. Only three trout that day on ony one would make it to the scales. We did catch 5 reds and Lukes largest was a 26" only to beat out of big redfish by a few ounces. The redfish were 26", 22 1/2", 21", 20" and one small 17 incher. We caught spanish, trout, bluefish, ladyfish, pinfish, ballyhoo, lizard fish, redfish and jacks. Some of the bluefish and ladyfish were the largest I have evere caught. One lady fish was darn near a tarpon. What a great day on the water and congrats go out to all the winners.
Thanks Luke for a great day on the pond.
