Dog Island 9-22

Me and Dean headed out of Lanark on the Oh Hell, Mechele, just as the sun was coming up. Beautiful sunrise, but that SE wind was working pretty good already, probably 10-15k. Went to the bait hole, and loaded up on primo pilchards. Soaked a few as we circled Dog Island, and on the outside the waves were building. Worked a few beach spots and one inshore wreck, where we pulled in 7 grouper, one nearly legal but all undersized. They did fight good, though, on a casting reel.
Worked a few docks, and boated two nice reds, then one trout. Two big blues came to the boat, the biggest I have seen in our area this year. Wind still real strong, and it was just a tad over the forecast (around 10Knots, they said it would be), shall we say, way over. Like 15knots. Ah, NOAA, our favorite guys to ridicule.
Saw several big, go fast kingfish boats heading out, probably to pre-fish the tournament. They didn't stay offshore long. Tomorrow might be a bit bumpy.
Luck,
EJ
