Have any of you put in at the ramp in the park by the lighthouse? I have a 20' Key West and was wondering how it would do getting out. The times I have gone over there all I have seen are trailers for skiffs and some smaller boats going out. My specs say my boat drafts in 12", but I have scraped bottom in the Keaton channel on some lower tides with more water than 12". How busy does Shields get on the weekends? I heard that place was a madhouse.

I've seen all sizes at the lighthouse ramp.
Beware low tide there. It can be a booger for even the smallest of crafts.

Go to the fort. Only a few minute run out the river.

Like previously stated, shallow at low tide, otherwise fine. Fort ramp is nice and is just down river from Shields. All of those ramps can be a madhouse. Should get a little better with cooler weather.

Some days, the $5 launch fee at sheilds is a very small price for sanity.
