Slack tide blues?

My buddy and I hit our favorite spot yesterday, crept into a small creek with good outward tidal movement. The reds and some spunky trout were hitting the livies, cut blue crab (a.k.a. Redfish crack) and the beloved Gulps. Then around 1:30, nothing, nada, big fat zero! We waited for the incoming tide, but a fair north wind and weak tidal movement inward just didn't produce. So my question, why? No movement means no eat? They moved on to better grounds? Or did they catch on (no pun intended)?
