St. Joseph Bay - 09/30/06

The weekend started off with a 2:30 cst wakeup to catch a flight home from Norfolk, VA on Friday, to be followed by a 3:30 cst wakeup on Saturday to pickup a birddog for a cool September day of fishing the mighty St. Joe bay.

The prior evening started with getting the boat ready, discovered the port taillight was out on the trailer. Unhook the boat goto wally world, find replacement bulb, pick up some tackle, glance at a set of new LED trailer lights, say to self, “I’ll get them at a later date.â€

Oversized trout and 15 reds is a pretty good day's fishing.

Very sorry to hear about your friend.

Sorry I missed you guys. Got to Presnell's at about 7:30 and my radio stinks. New antenna is on the list. Sounds like we had similar days

Chalk,
It had been a while; good to see you again. It was good meeting BD, TC, and Leadsled. We didn't fair anywhere close to what you did, but had a good day with my son and his friend, and it was a great day to be on the water.

BTW: Figured out the Eastern/Central Standard Time difference; last time that happens :D

Who is this Knuclehead ya'll speak of?

Just want to reiterate what Chalk said about the trout fishing. It's gonna be tough on tournament day. There are good trout there, but the bay is definately not what it was 2-3 years ago.

Saturday we would pick up a fair trout then not much. We'd make a move and pick up another decent trout. It was like this all day and has been that way for me all summer. I haven't heard how the fishing has been for the guides on St. Joe Bay, but Saturday Chalk and I watched 1 guide move several times over the course of just a couple of hours and they didn't seem to be doing much catching.

I'm looking forward to fishing the SJB tourney, but unless something changes its gonna be a tough trout day. I hope none of this scares anyone away from fishing the tournament. St. Joe Bay is the nearest thing we have to fishing in South Florida and its just a pleasure to spend a day on such beautiful waters.

On to the pictures:

Once again Chalk it was a fine day on the water with you. I'm glad TinCan and Luke were able to make it as well. Ron, enjoyed talking with you and your son and look forward to seeing you again on the 14th.

Can't wait til next time.

For some reason when I downloaded from the camera, 3 of the pictures came up as invalid files. Don't know why, never happened before. Probably all the fish slime oozing into the camera.
