THE OLD MAN OF THE SEA DID SOME MOONLITTIN LAST NIGHT AND EARLY THIS MORNIN. JJIMMY PICKED ME UP LAST NIGHT ABOUT 7 P.M., HE HAD JERRY AND CHARLES FROM MEMPHIS WITH HIM. WE LAUNCHED THE BULLET AT THE MOUTH OF THE OCHLOCKNEE ABOUT 9 PM. WE WENT OUT THE THE AREA WHERE THE 3 CHANELS SPLIT AND STARTED CASTING TOP WATER PLUGS. ALMOST EVERY CAST BROUGHT IN A GOOD SIZE JACK. AFTER ABOUT 15 MIN . OF THIS AND WE MOVED TO THE EAST AROUND THE CHANNEL TO PANACEA AND OVER TOWARD PINEY ISLAND. JUST A FEW MIN. AFTER WE SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN ALL OF US STARTED CATCHIN GOOD SIZE TROUT. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE WATER JUST EXPLODED RIGHT AT THE BOAT, CHARLES SET THE HOOK AND THEN THE FUN BEGAN. WE COOULD NOT SEE WHAT IT WAS BUT IT WAS A BIG FISH. WE CHASED THE FISH FOR ALMOST 45 MIN. AND FINALLY CHARLES BROUGHT IT TO BOAT SIDE, JIMMY GAFFED THE COBE, HE MEASURED 43" LONG AND WAS STILL FULL OF FIGHT. I PUT THE OLD SHARK ELIMINATOR TO HIS HEAD 3-4 TIMES AND HE CALMED DOWN. WE ENDED UP FISHING AT 3 A.M. WITH A TOTAL OF 32 TROUT CAUGHT AND 20 KEEPERS IN THE BOX, 1 43" COBE, 2 REDS , 22' -24", AND ABOUT 100 JACKS THAT WERE ABOUT 14-22", 2 SAILCATS, AND 2 SMALL GROUPA 12-14". THE WATER WAS JUST RIGHT, THE MOON GAVE US PLENTY OF LIGHT AND THE TEMP. KEPT US COOL .

WEVANS WE WERE BETWEEN THE ISLAND AND THE CHANNEL BUT CLOSER TO THE ISLAND AND WORKED AROUND THE NORTH END OF THE ISLAND, CHARLES CAUGHT THE COBE ABOUT 1/2 WAY BETWEEN THE ISLAND AND THE PANACEA CHANNEL. ALL OF THE FISH WE CAUGHT WERE ON TOP WATER PLUGS, MOST WITH A SPINNER ON THE FRONT AND REAR OF THE PLUGS, ANYTHING THAT MADE NOISE.
