Enjoying a little night action……..Frogging: Tuesday, 10-4 06

Went out with a duck hunting buddy last night for a little fun and we had a nice 4 hour evening hunt. Despite it being 2 days pre-full moon with an 85% moon illumination we had a nice evening. The sky was clear with a light breeze and the mosquitoes weren’t bad at all. The usual loud frog chorus was noticeably absent on account of how much light the moon was putting out. I thought the frogs were less abundant than on a dark night as well. Even running with a Go Devil we had to turn around and back track as we ran out of water on the south shore of a favorite lake. Unless we get some rain soon our lakes are gonna be pretty shallow and only accessible by airboat and mud motors.
We left the ramp to head home at about 0145 hrs and I got to bed at 0300 hrs. When I got home I could tell I was not firing on all cylinders as I kept nodding off on the computer while I worked on loading the pictures for this report. This was further verified when I got up at 0630 hrs to get the kids rolling and off to school. When I started getting their breakfast ready I noticed I left the frog legs in a container on the countertop (3 hrs out). Looks like I’ll be cooking a lot of froglegs tonight (fortunately the legs had been chilled in ice prior to getting home).
Here’s a few photos of how our evening went.
