I'm with you on the Vanish- Lost one of the biggest bass I have ever had on the line because it broke. New spool of 17lb test! (I know- he got bigger after he broke my line.... Really he was 13-15lbs easy)

I do understand that one of the problems they have is that the line heats up when you tie the knot and that weakens the line strength.

I use Bass Pro excel 6lb test on my ultra lights and change the line every other trip. That way I get new line and eliminate any twist.
I also keep the filler spool inside in a closet so the heat and light dont get to it. Heat and light will weaken mono.

But Braid will work. My dad has a Zebco 20-10 loaded with 20lb braid and It works fine.

For 4lb or 6lb line I've had good results with stern.I've fished a few other Berkley lines and haven't been to pleased. Also I have been extremley pleased with spider wire monifliment lines.
