Was this you?

Time for a little game we can call, "Was this you?"

I went fishing friday with my son and my father. Decided to put in at the fort so we could have a decent boat ride for my son. Not my normal spot due to the company it attracts, but figured it was friday, so maybe it would be ok. Got back in, pulled the boat out, and noticed that my trailer light was busted and my guide pole was bent. See Exhibit 1:

Went back to where I was parked, and notice broken red plastic, consistent with the material of the broken light.

Then to the immediate left (same side as said light), was a (pontoon boat)trailer, that still sported the same red plastic. See Exhibit 2:

Trailer was attached to the vehicle in Exhibit 3. Note the proximity to the broken tail light in the foreground.

After considering the evidence, I looked for the note stating that it was all an accident and that the owner had the proper anatomy and integrity to make it right. I was not able to find said note.

My dissappointment was profound.

My father was ultimately successful in persuading me not to forcibly remove the valve stems from the offending trailer tires, and I only left a small note of friendship and gratitude for the driver.

On a postive note, we caught fish, and teh grouper sandwich and smoked mullet at the riverside cafe were excellent.

On the other hand, if you own this vehicle/boat, or know who does, a simple apology, and an explaination on how you would like to make this right would be greatly appreciated. The money really isnt an issue, just the lack of responsibility associated with this type of thing. My guess is, the owner may not even know, he may have been in the boat while someone else parked the trailer (twice).

Is it possible the offending party did not realized they had struck your trailer? Sometimes parking is tight at the fort and perhaps the driver was watching the front end and overlooked the back. Regardless, it happens, not woth the aggravation. That is just the excuse I need to instal a set of LED lights.

Not possible that he didnt know. He hit it hard enough to bend the metal pipe in the guide post. Probably stopped his vehicle. Then he pulled out and parked a little farther down. And it wasnt that tight on that day.

But you are right, it isnt worth worrying about, and you may be able to tell, I was already applying band-aides to that light to keep it working. I am just glad I hadnt spent the money on a new light yet. I just get aggravated by the lack of courtesy.

I dont think anyone on these forums would pull a big pontoon with a Hyundai Sante Fe.

I'm sure that Sante Fe felt the collision. Probably just didn't know what to do.

That's a shame he didn't even leave a note saying he was sorry attached with a phone number. :smt011

Maybe his wife parked the car and was afraid to tell the hubbie she wrecked his trailor... :o

Grim-

The same thing happened to me the first moth I had my boat. I ended up buying a whole new set of trailer lights for the loss of one running light. Sorry it happened to you also. :(

Wasn't me. A crash like that might leave a mark on my bicycle. :D
