Lanark, Saturday 10/21

Couldn't talk anyone to go out on the boat, so I left it at home and took the kayak to Lanark. I only brought my 6wt flyrod, thinking it was going to be a calm wind and sunny all day, as usual I was wrong.
I arrived at my first stop at low tide, and was greeted by tailing Reds. Heads down in the mud, tail and half the body straight up, almost as if they were waving to me. They were in such skinny water, talking ankle deep here, I couldn't get in casting range without spooking them. The stiff wind wasn't helping either, but it did lay down around noon. I eventually left those guys alone, and moved on to another spot to await the incoming tide and hopefully more Reds.
Second stop proved a good idea, unfortunately I couldn't see fish due to no sun. About midway through the tide coming in, the sun showed itself for about 30 Min's, and with it revealed the Reds on sandbars. I hooked 3 and landed 1 during this time, unfortunately the clouds showed up again and ended my sight fishing.
On the way back I made one more stop and found tails once again, this time digging for things in the spartina grass. I took a lot of shots at these, but no takers on the fly, guess they had their mind set on whatever was at the base of those grass patches.
That was about it, really a shame the sun never came out until I left. Took one really poor quality picture of the 27" fat Red I actually landed.
