Carolina skiff splash rail?

Could you add a splash rail to a J16 to help it ride a little less wet?
Got my mind on trying one out this year, $ is affordable and I figure I could resale pretty quick.
Waiting till my "boat" comes in to git a bigger model....of something.
Right now I could set up for less than $2000 and have a flats glass skiff that is self bailing, I will at least feel safer out a ways in the spring.
