Fishing Report
Apalachee Bay
Trout fishing in shallow water, from 2 to 6 feet, on the East and West flats has been very productive. Numerous limits of trout have even been landed near the St. Marks Lighthouse where the water is very shallow. The flats in front of Big Pass and on over to Patty's Island have also been productive. In all areas, use a shrimp under a Cajun Thunder float. The same pattern will work around Black Rock all the way to Grey Mare Rock. Redfish fishing continues to be good, with lots of schools being sighted in various places. Some anglers have caught and released up to 40 fish in the St. Marks River near the power plant in St. Marks. There also have been some mangrove snapper and sheepshead in the river. Reds also are schooling in the Rock Garden along with plenty of trout. Nearshore grouper is “off the chartsâ€
