Anyone got an idea how to replace one of these tip eyelets? I have one that broke on an 'offshore' sized spinning rod. Wondering if there is a local place to buy a replacement and if the swap-out is hard or not. I have never done this type of repair before.
I was looking to use the rod this weekend so of course its broken.

Capt. Ron is correct. Either Rivers, on South Adams, or Colson, at Kevins, will have the right size tip. Colson will replace the tip for you while you wait. I'm sure Rivers will do the same. Rivers is closed on Wednesday. Colson is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Luke, if you still have the old tip you may be able to use it depending on how much broke off. Use a candle flame or lighter to heat the old tip and then take pliers and gently wiggle it until it comes off. Keep applying heat until it comes off easily. Clean the old tip with something that will reach inside it (ice pick, etc) The remaining broken end of the rod can be sanded down to allow the tip to fit. Make sure the tip fits properly before attempting to glue it. Walmart sells a package with different sizes but may not have one big enough. The package generally has some adhesive in stick form. Heat the stick with a candle or lighter. Have the tip in some pliers (small vise grips works good for this) and stick the tip in the soft adhesive then place the tip on the end of the rod and align (quickly) Be careful of the hot adhesive it will burn if you touch it to skin. I keep a short candle in a empty tuna fish can in my garage just for this sort of operation. It really is a simple operation and one that you don't need to pay for.
