Is anyone concerned that the trout seem to be non-existant? What is your opinion of whats going on, this is not only the last couple of months, I think last spring was off. Is their food source in short supply? Are the weather patterns causing this? Are they over-fished?

I would like to think that the trout are still there in large numbers and we are going to have a "helluva" spring. Personally, I would rather catch them out on the flats, away from all the "shoulder rubbing" in the rivers.

Whats your opinion?

I think aliens from outer space, or maybe Georgia, have absconded with the trout. Can't find them anywhere!

I obviously wouldn,t have the answer.

However, back in the Summer and Autumn, there were reports of lots and lots of "short" fish being returned, as many as 50+ a trip.
Those fish haven,t suddenly disappeared.
I don,t believe in Aliens, not even Georgia ones.

When the temperature drops, or there is a lot of freshwater in our estuarys, the fish find deep holes or channels and just sit there.
They don,t move, therefore they don,t spend energy, therefore they don,t need to eat.
When the water clears or warms, they feed like mad.

If there is loads of freshwater, they will move out into the sea, until they find a blend that suits them.
That means they could be in quite deep water.
But, once again, they don,t move, feed etc.

Could be a similar situation exists there.

I don't know, Cran.........I still gotta go with the Ga. alian theory.

Yes, "US" Georgia aliens have all the trout, they are hidden in chicken houses ...My take on the trout really would be tides, weather and location....Tides: the times I could go (one or two times a month) the times of water movement were not in my favor...Except for our last "Redneck Slam" Report, which includes weather, the tide changed over around 11:00, but a front was pushing through..this extended the feeding time....and we were not parked right out from the mouth of the river, fishing line whipped prop washed water ...Seek seclusion.....I hope to go this weekend, but I don't have an airboat and santa didn't bring those hip waders to tackle negative tides ....Just my two cents

TC, ya got us rehanded. I been wearing out the specks just below the Albany dam. Hoped to keep it quite till I filled the freezer. Ya'll "FL" boys been so kind to us "GA" boys lately, I decided to turn you on to them. Their bitting on squid on bottom in 45 foot of water below the dam. Let me know when ya want to go.

I think they are still there. It's just been an off year for everything. I've only seen and heard of a few really nice bucks being killed, ducks are few and far between, and so on. Mother Nature is weeding out the poseurs, that's what it is! If you don't buy that, go to Spring Creek and ask Mr. Lovell, he'll tell you what's wrong.
