Although nothing as spectacular as those, this is a snapshot I took from here in Thomasville. It was beautiful from here too. The sky kinda had an orange glow on the horizon, then up it came. We were surprised at how clear it was even from here. even thought it was just a tiny streak in the sky. Watched it up to the point of booster seperation, then it was just a tiny dot after that, for about 15 more seconds....

PS: Just to give you an idea of the size, here is the original image before I zoomed it....and it was taken at 5X on the camera.

That is one of the coolest things you can ever see. I highly recommend going to see it next time they schedule a night launch. It should be one of the wonders of the world. Its not good enough to se it on TV or pictures, you need to be upclose to truely experience. Because not only is it amazing to watch but its even cooler to FEEL it. I saw a few of them while I was in college in Melbourne, and every time they had a night launch we would go. They will eventually stop the shuttle program and it will be no longer, so GO when you can.

Been down there twice when they were supposed to launch. Both times got canned until the day after we left.

We'll catch it one of these times.

Eerman, I took the kids down last year for two days, had tickets to the launch sight and everything. They cancelled the launch

but just touring the place is amazing. I saw one from my bros place near Daytona and you could feel it even that far away.

Yesterday I was in the backyard and heard "Boom....Boom" around 5:30pm. Thought it was thunder or something. Come to find out it was the Space Shuttle approaching Cape Canavral.
CNN showed the course being right over the northern Gulf coast.

I was in the driveway shooting hoops with the kids and all of a sudden BOOOOOOMMMMMMM. Started to look to the sky to see how close the storm was and remembered that it was most likely the shuttle.
Made the kids go inside with me and turned on the TV to see the landing. Imagine their amazement as I explained that the shuttle was near us and 1-17 mins. later it landed on the east coast

I was talking to my parents on the phone. Thought a tree had hit someone's house. Never thought about the shuttle. That stuff blows my mind.

Yep we heard it too while we were out quail hunting. Heck of a Boom Boom.
