Curado 100 D

Got a new Curado 100 D over the holidays. I have a few of the 200's and have liked them. I mounted it on a 7' med./heavy rod and spooled it with 12lb. Big Game.
Put the 100 to the test yesterday. Landed 9 reds including the 32" bruiser and it performed flawlessly. I really like how the smaller frame fits in the palm of your hand. It seemed to cause less hand strain by the end of the day. I was afraid the smaller reel might not have the power to keep a reds head out of the bottom as well as the 200's, but I didn't notice any problems.
I'm very satisfied with it and would recommend it to anyone.

I have that same reel and LOVE it! It's true the smaller frame helps hand strain

I HAVE SAME REEL AND WAS USING THE SAME LINE, THIS WORKED FINE UNTIL I GOT INTO A SCHOOL OF BIG REDS (27" AND UP) IN SHALLOW WATER. THEY DIDN'T STAY AROUND LONG WITH THE 12lb LINE I COULDN'T TURN THEM BEFORE THEY BUGGERED ME UP IN THE ROCKS. I HOOKED UP SEVERAL TIMES AND LOST.
I HAVE TRIED THE BRAIDED LINE ON BAIT-CASTERS BEFORE AND FOUND IT SOMEWHAT CUMBERSOME, HOWEVER I HAVE THE BRAIDED LINE ON ALL MY SPIN-CASTERS (4lb DIA / 12-15 lb TEST). THE SMALLER TEST TENDS TO BACKLASH WHEN YOU TRY TO GET THAT LITTLE EXTRA DISTANCE WHEN CASTING.
A FRIEND OF MINE TOLD ME THAT WHEN YOU PUT BRAIDED LINE ON A BAIT-CASTER THAT YOU SHOULD MATCH THE DIAMETER LINE TO THE RECOMMENDED DIAMETER FOR THE REAL INSTEAD OF MATCHING THE STRENGTHS (12lb DIA / 30lb TEST). THIS HAS WORKED VERY WELL WITH CASTING AND TURNING THE FISH.

Casts a spoon as far as the 200. 6.2:1 gear ratio = 25" per turn of the handle. A little slower than my 200 at 7:1 with 30" per turn of the handle. I probably should slow down a little in the winter anyway.

If anyone got the new 300 let me know. i would like to hear about it. I use the Chronarchs now, but like the line capacity of the new Curado 300's.
