Today’s fishermen are savvier in applying the fine tuned skills needed to stay afloat in competitive and recreational fishing. “Although we’ve had the technology to make 5 lb. test for several years now, I just didn’t think the superline market was mature enough for a line this light... until now,â€

Despite their comments & claims, I can see the world's biggest whip knotting forming from that line in my mind

Light tackle. Light flys. Imagine dropping a clouser on a redfish pod with an ultralight Stradic 1000 reel and a 6 ft rod. It'll be like fighting a Marlin.

You can't throw a fly with that line....the weight of fly line and the long rod is the vehicle in fly fishing.

I can't throw it far. With 3/4 lb I bet it will go a little ways. I'll let you know next week. It won't hurt to try. That clouser has that a barbell for eyes and it gives it a little weight.

"Showboat" fishing is too hard on the fish, just my opinion. Drags out the fight too long.

I bet a Poping Cork would make that fly fly.

One could also use a sling shot :-D

show boat fishing

Yea I gotta agree with you on that, but its not show boating if your trying to catch fish and thats your only way of attracting a bite. But to be honest, If a Reds hungry its really not that picky. Most of the reds we catch around here are less than 32 inches inshore, and i don't know how much it would hurt one to fight it 3 minutes longer than I would with 8lb test. I wouldn't even bother fishing if I was using 40 lb test and winching them to the boat either though.
