I was sent on a mission today. My partner Chalk thought it might be a good idea if I checked a creek for some trout today.
Well, partner, I checked about a mile's worth of the creek. There's some good looking holes, with rocks, oysters, and rock grass. I could see bottom in 5' with no trouble. The water is a little tannin, ant the temp was 54 degrees. I saw 4 mullet. I did not catch a trout. Nor did I see any evidence of trout. I did not see any redfish in the creek.
However, just as I exited the creek, I caught a 29" redfish. I then caught 11 more. from 16" to 29", in the next hour. The one 16" fish was the only short. 6 were in the mid to upper slot, and 5 were too big (hate when that happens).
I suppose it was a bad day, as I did not find any trout.
I hope to try a few more creeks next week. I'll try not to dissappoint you again.
