Pond fishing Sat and Sunday

Yesterday, Saturday, headed out to farm to go bird hunting. Hunted till bout 11:30 and then stopped for lunch. After eating before we started back I walked down to pond with a baitcaster and a rattletrap. In about 15 minutes had caught 8 bass up to 4 lbs and missed several more. Water was calm and fish were hitting the top all around the edge. Had I had my tackle bag I’d have tried a topwater. Have no doubt fish would have hit them. I quit to go hunt but decided to come back today if it wasn’t raining and try em again.

Got back this afternoon around 3:30 and started throwing a X Rap on spinning outfit. This was first time I had fished with one of the Stradics I got recently and I doubt I’ll ever use any other kind of spinning reel. Has to be the smoothest I ever had my hands on.

Make a long story short, I fished the dock and walked around the bank and probably caught 25 fish up to 7 lbs. All fish were quality, no bank runners or tighteyes……Course this a farm pond with all kind of habitat that’s fertilized and maintained. Still this is January. All the fish hit hard and were very healthy. Looked like they were already swelling up with eggs.

All in all, a pretty good two days. Kinda knocked the edge off of not being able to get to the flats !
