With all this crazy weather, the ducks have left nearly every place I hunt. Had a hard hunt Saturday morning only to kill one duck. Hunted yesterday morning and killed my pair of summer ducks and a couple of ring necks, but the birds in this pond were scarce too. My Benelli SBE II decided to misfeed twice yesterday morning when a few ringers were winging past. I'm about to think it is time to put the duck hunting stuff back up and start getting my fishing gear in order...DANG IT!

I'm headed to Stuttgart Thurs. morning, and I'm a little worried things might be the same up there.
However I keep thinking that the worst day of duck hunting up there probably beats the best day of hunting here.

There are ducks to the west of Stuttgart.
No sir, I've had many better days down here than the worst days I've had in Arkansas

If there aren't ducks in Stuttgart they put you on Geese. Blues and Snow Geese, unless Canadian season is open. Not the same, but worth 1 hunt.
They should be able to tell you if the ducks are there. If they are not it can be just like it is here lately, only cold. I went a couple years ago and had one good hunt out of 3 days. I was disappointed.

Ran in to a couple of duckhunters taking out at Panacea, Sunday PM. They didn't have much luck- a couple of buffleheads, to put it in they're words.

Well, I can scratch that off of my destinations list

More duck woes

Went to Lake Wimico on Friday (actually I followed a friend who knew the route). We saw lots (100s) of ringers, but they wouldnt move or work or anything. We were there at dawn and they must have roosted there. Appear to have never been shot or something.
When the occasional bassboat would roar by even as close as 150 yds from them, they would either sit tight or else move all of 100 yds. One buffle got up and ran into buddy's shotcloud and I missed one long shot. Very frustrating. How the heck do you hunt in a situation like this? (without 200 lbs of bagged corn being involved)

Heading out in the morning. Hope it's worth it.
