We are thinking of doing a 3 or 4 day trip to Seminole in April or May and have no idea about where to stay or when would be the best time can ya help us out a bit "or anyone else with info on the area"

believe I saw you up the St. Marks River between the Yacht Club and Shell Island Saturday. I was in the Sea Pro with the t-top.

Do any good? That's a little out of your territory isn't it.

I ran out to 30' to 35' feet and caught a few short grouper. Kept catching big black bass on the stretches so I stopped and caught a mess of them. I am starting to like fried black bass better that grouper.

That was me and YES, I was out of my territory I couldn't even buy a bite from any fish "fresh or salt" I think I'll stick to my regular spots untill it warms up a bit

Did you try oyster bay over at spring creek? I've been thinking about going over there. I've caught lots of reds and black drum there in the winter.

The fish just really haven't come into the St. Marks like they usually do. A friend caught some reds and big sheephead in one of my river spots this weekend. Maybe the cold weather is finally pushing them into their winter spots.

As a rule, I usually fish for Bass in the Winter and only fish offshore in the salt I just couldn't resist giving it a try during the tourney day last Sat.

Wingates has some cabins they rent. April or may should be good. If ya wanna stay at Wingates during the spring, ya better call now. Seminole State Park also has cabins for rent. They're pretty nice, and will accomodate from 2 to I think 8 people.

I would imagine that the park don't allow drinkin that would not work with this bunch It will probably be Wingates I was looking at Google Earth and it looked to me that Wingates is on or close to Bass Island. Is that where it's at? Will the fishin still be good at that time, or will we be arriving to late for the best stuff

What are you fishing for?
April and May are usually good for bass. May might be the better bet for pan fish. Give Jack Wingate a call. He'll tell ya what time to come.

We are usually split down the middle between Bass fishers and Pan fish fishers We'll give Jack a call and go with his suggestions even when we don't catch much, we have a generally good time

PS: I'll post up the dates when I get them so y'all can plan not ta fish at that time "it is usually windy and raining no matter what date we set"

Although according to him the bites been pretty hot lately. If you come let me know, I'm right around the corner from there. Two other options on the north side of the lake are Spring Creek Resort and Trails End Marina. Both are on the web.

Both are pretty laid back. Spring Creek Resort has Big Jim's Oyster Bar also has a small restaurant for breakfast and lunch. Both are close to Seminole Wind restaurant.
