Fished my first spot this morning, but it was clearly not happening. I avoided going there for three weeks just to save them for this day. No luck, so I took a 40 mile ride to another spot. It was loaded with Trout. Unfortunately you need a Redfish to win a Redfish Tournament. I picked up one at 18" but suspected it would not be good enough and threw it back. Glad I didn't kill it just for 4th place. The best part was, It was the first Redfish I ever caught on a spoon. Decided to try the spoon with the water so low all day, and it worked. Unfortunately it was the only taker. Congrats to Chalkizzle for catching the Big Red. I guess I gotta take bananas next time.

At least you got one. When I'm fishing spinning gear for reds, I use gold spoons almost exclusively. Well, for that matter, I catch 90% of my reds on fly on a gold spoonfly. Reds want spoons, give 'em what they want!
