Indian Pass 2.12.07

I didn't start the day out planning to fish, but when I got up at 6 that morning to see the wife off to work she said if your going to go you better go today. You got to eat your cake when it's being passed to you, don't save it. Sooooo.....finaly got work settled to were I could handle it by phone around 8:30 and hit the road at 9. Along the way I talked to Tin Can who said he had just gotten to his spot and landed a nice red on the second cast. This made me increase speed by about 5mph to get there ASAP. Finally got to IP around 10:45. Well NOAA called for ESE 5-10 was more like ESE 10-15. And the Pass looked like it was full of sheep. Now, I have launched many, many times out of IP in the worst of weather and never thought anything of it. Maybe thats because I was in a 24' deep V CC. This time I was in a flat bottom 18' skiff. What the hell I got insurance and a life jacket! After nearly taking one over the bow of the boat I got out of the narrows of the pass and it calmed down a bit. Ran about 10-12 miles and turn into the shore line to start the day. The tide was supposed to be coming in all day but the strong east wind ment that there was really no net tide either way. Not a lot of water moving except from the wind. drifted with the wind over patchy sand and oysters in about foot and a hlf of water all day. Never more than 100 feet of the bank. Hooked into the first Red fairly early and thought that was a good sign.
I continued on down the shoreline only casting to the Reds I could see. The sun left me about 3:30 so sight fishing was out for the day so I quit around 4.I didn't bring a scale or tape measure with me so I have no idea about the sizes but I boated 7 reds from probably 20-28 inches. All caught on a silver spoon w/rattle. Had to throw it to them, let them see it and then drop it to the bottom and wait for them to pick it up. They were all caught w/in 20' of the boat. I've got some video I'll post if I can ever figure out how to get it off of the camera and on to youtube.
