Well I am thinking about going on a Lure buying binge. I was wondering that size color DOA Shrimp, Gulp, Jigs, Jig Heads, and top water lures I should snag?

DOA Cal Series Shad Tails and jerkbaits. http://www.doalures.com I prefer the rootbeer with chartreuse tail in the winter months and the mullet colors in the summer. I catch both reds and trout with the same lure. I also suggest DOA jigheads 1/16 to 1/4 ounce in this area. Smaller weights for shallower water.

I also like the Capt Mike selection of lures and spoons and the 5' swimming tail is the cats meow on the flats with an incoming tide. I also like the flats candy and 3" mullet tails.

Mojokoko, You should probably limit your first round purchases to $500.00.
There will be plenty you want to add to your starter kit.

Are you guys really throwing 1/16th jig heads? I don't even own any.

I have been using the screw-lock jig heads from Strike King (Redfish Magic Saltwater Flats Jig Head) and they have been working okay. Sharp hooks, good paint, eyes never painted-over. I cut the screw a few turns shorter with a small pair of wire cutters (wear eye protection!).

Norton soft plastics also seem to stay on the hook a little longer than my collection of Salt Water Assassins. But I'll start out in the AM throwing topwater of varous kinds then throw soft plastics the rest of the day. I bought some hardbaits mentioned in this thread to try a little more this year.

Of course I have entered the last two NFGFC tourneys and haven't weighed a fish so what the heck do I know??????

I have some Capt. Mikes and have caught some nice fish on them. Can't overlook the old favorite though - Johnson Minnow Spoon

Luke,it is not whether you can catch fish or not. If everyone sees you with the right baits they think you can catch fish.
Just ask BirdDog and Chalk.

I know this guy from Scottland and his accent makes this little joke funnier:

He is fond of saying I have "All the gear and no idear" :-D

I agree with that.

Where do you get your Nortons? I have always gotten mine in Pensacola. I have talked to Scott about ordering some.

I actually won my Nortons in a NFGFC raffel. I got rootbeer bodies with chart. tails. I got one pack and its accounted for about 30% of the nice trout I have caught in the last two years. And rootbeer isn't a confidence color for me at all. (thats a whole nother thread)

Bass Pro carries Norton. I saw them in the Orlando store last week. Also Texas Tackle Factory (TTF) makes something similar I believe.

Maybe Scott will start carrying them.

I have always liked the Rootbeer color for my grubs. Last year I started throwing the Nortons "Bone Diamond".

The Norton bait is more durable then most baits.

Like they said, try a few things and build confidence in a few. Your confidence lures are what you goto when the rest of the stuff we told you about does not work.
