Sealing around hatches?

We have a few access hatches that are leaking water into the compartments below. We have replaced the door gasket and that did not work. We think the problem lies in the seal between the deck and the hatch. So we need to pull them up and reseal them. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best type sealant to use? Its a fiberglass deck and plastic hatch. I have thought of 3M 5200, but is this the best thing to use or is there something better? Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated.

5200 is the way to go IMO. I'd use the fast cure this time of year.
These hatches are known for leaking though, and don't know if resealing to the deck will do any good. It's worth a shot though. The o-ring rubber seal they use doesn't seal very well, and I suspect it is still your problem.

My only suggestion would be to use 4200 instead of 5200 if you EVER may want to remove them again for any reason.

I agree with Nathan. Seal the hatch shut with 5200 and it will never leak again........Of course, if you ever want to open it again you'll probably have to come back and ask for new ideas.
