Launched about 9:00 this morning, very little water at Keaton with the tide and wind that was a bit worse than predicted. Got to the end of the pier and decided to try in front of Ceder Island where the bars and rocks where exposed. Caught a short trout under a thunder using electric chicken. Drifted closer to the channel where a fella was running slowly in circles. He yelled over at me asking how to get out. I told him to stick between the markers keeping red on your left and green on your right. Didn't want to confuse him with starboard and port. About this time a big offshore boat comes screaming up towards us, mind you on an extremly low tide and wind blowing from the north. Instead of following the markers he took a shortcut and ran right straight into the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. I yelled over to the fella that asked me how to get out and told him not to follow the path the offshore boat took. He did anyway, and so did another boat. Long story short folks, I think all three ended up stuck in mud waiting on the tide, I know the offshore boat was grounded for sure. Study up on them nav markers boys, they ain't just for decoration.

Ended up fishing by Dekle and then fished the bars by Yates Creek. S-L-O-W. I slung Gulps, grubs, plugs, you name it, we threw it. The smell of skunk is heavy on my boat. The good news is I took my five year old son out who I have mostly taken freshwater fishing and he started using artificials. He's used to worms and crickets. It was a good day for practicing casting, but he did manage a 14.5" trout. He couldn't believe we had to throw him back, he thought he'd be eating fish tonight. :smt010 . We'll get 'em another day.

I think the weather this past weekend may have put the lockjaw on them. When I went back to the ramp around 4:00 I spoke with three other boats who said they didn't catch anything either. One old timer said it was the worse day of fishing he could remember. Hope y'all had better luck where you fished.

Hey, BW,
We didn't do much better there last Monday. Fished all the way to Spring Warrior and only managed 2 15''(barely) trout, 1 14'' trout and a 13'' Spanish. In 5 hrs. of hard fish'in. I don't think they've started good yet.
Maybe next time will be better, hope so. :smt004
