Spring Warrior 3/19 - 3/20

Struggled out of the creek on what I thought was to be a rising tide, but the strong North wind was pushing it out faster than it could come in. I was doing pretty good till i got to the mouth and saw a boat that appeared to be fishing, so I headed his way thinking the water must be deeper. Turns out he was stucker than I was. We pushed out together till we got almost to the tripod. I kept thinking that this was not what I was picturing in my mind during the 4.5 hour trip down. So with the exercise behind me and several lessons learned, it was time to fish. I caught several small reds and as the tide finally reached full pool, I was able to get in real close, and I mean close. I started seeing some action and I assumed it to be reds but it turned out that there were trout mixed in with them. Big trout. I caught 4 good trout and several reds, two of which were keeper size. Caught all on gulps. And then the wind did a 180 and started to blow from the west and it was all over. Yesterday I fished through the low tide and had to leave early, before the high tide, I caught 3 barely keeper trout on the flats with one of those redfish spinner baits. took out at 12:00 and headed north. As always, I enjoyed fishing at Spring Warrior and staying at the fish camp with Mr. James Pittman. I sure hope there are places like this still around when I'm able to fish on my own schedule.
