We took Dubble Trubble to anky and started our regular routine...trout in the am, grouper midday and trout in the pm.

5 minutes out of the river at Hickory mound, a 20" spanish just takes my lure and runs with it. I finally stopped him and watched the smoke coming outta my drag.. :o . Got him in the boat and we caught about 7 or 8 short trout before the water calmed and the bite stopped.

We headed out around 11 to our grouper spots and left a buddy and his new wife inshore (They wuz on their honeymoon-now that's a wife!)
This proved to be a mistake (Leaving for grouper- not his wedding)

Anyway, we trolled for what seemed like forever with not a SINGLE strike. Anchored at what is out best spot, bottom fished and NUTTHIN'. The highlight was 8 dolphin that surfaced about 3 feet from the bow while I was letting the wife captain the boat. She was worried she was going to chop em up....They rode along with us for a minute, and I guess they got bored and took off. As the water was super clear (full visibility at 30 feet) we watched them go down and take off. Few minutes later, a sea turtle came up to google us for a few seconds.

Came back in around 3 pm to find my buddy had 4 keepers in the boat and was puttin the 5th in. He was still at Hickory mound. Of course, I being the bright guy I am, decided to try rock island. The wind had picked up, so I was getting a good drift toward shore. Again, we started getting shorts one right after the other. Finally ended the day with 2 keeper trout, and 2 spanish around 20".

Oh, I guess I will also have to say, my buddy and his new bride limited out on trout......

Moral of the story: If your buddy says the fish are bitin where he is, GO WHERE HE IS.... :smt011

Oh, and I am proud to say, I finally beat my wife. She got skunked.. :-D

Thanks for report from the "other end" of Anky!

I fished Sun pm about halfway to Aucilla in 2.5-4 feet on the
incoming tide and caught a nice limit and numerous shorts.

Sat I fished the area just east of Aucilla...saw a really large shark
(nurse I think) cruising the area and got a limit over a period of
about 5 hours.

Friday I fished inside Cobb Rocks on incoming tide and limited on
really nice trout. The bite only lasted about an hour for me.

Water is very clear and lack of water movement in mornings made
it strickly an afternoon show for me. Warmest water I found was 72.
Most fish on Gulp jig and a few smaller fish on Gulp under a CT.
Threw my arm off with my "used to be trusty" Catch Jr. without
a nibble!

Thanks for the report  . We have a crew going down for a 3 day weekend on Friday. Nice to see I'm not the only one that's been known to leave biting fish in search of bigger biting fish :hammer: :hammer:
