There was a Kelly's Bait and Tackle On Tennessee St may have been near Macomb. It was owned and run by Luther Kelly who also worked for the City. One of his brothers was W.W. Kelly who was a County Commisioner and owned a farm and grocery store south of town. I remember Luther talking about some people from Georgia came thru on their way to Lake Panasofkee and they bought four nail kegs of earth worms.

I don't know how long ago that was. I left Tallahassee in 1953 and I don't know how long it lasted after that.

Thanks guys. This is probably TMI but this is why I was asking about Kelly's...
My Dad, brother and I went to a parole hearing this morning regarding a reduction in sentence for the guy that killed my other brother in 1966. Part of the informatin provided by the parole office was that my brother picked up the guy at Ashmores and found him at Kelly's Old B&T on S. Macomb. (Dale was driving a cab during his summer break from Yale. He was found stabbed in the back in his cab on Saxon Street)
Last night, I was just trying to retrace the last minutes of my brother's life before going to the hearing today.
The guy was originally sentenced to the death penalty. In the
wisdom of the US Supreme Court around 1972, all death row inmates sentences got changed to life in prison.
I guess we "won" since the commission denied any further reduction to the length of his life imprisonment (set at 2014) - at this time.

We used to buy bait a store about 2 blocks south of Brevard on what's now MLK. The only place I could imagine a place on S. Macomb was at Okaloosa but I don't know.
When I called TPD records they couldn't find a reference card on the incident. I don't think the SO would have worked it, but I have to get to the library to check the archived newspapers to find out.

Rodbow,
I talked to an older gentleman today and asked him about Kelly's B&T. He said it was on the NW corner of McComb and Call St. where the new parking garage is. He also made reference to the Bait Store that was on Carolina St. He said a black couple owned it and they were very nice people and they had any bait you could think of.
