Mine are getting real stiff. The engine is smooth and easy to operate by hand with the cables removed. Should I open the controls and lube? Or would you look at the cables first. I have to remove the controls to even disconnect the cables. It's for a 25 Nissan and it's 6-7 years old. Thanks.

9 times outta 10, it will be a cable. how does the shifter move with it disconnected from the motor?

It's pretty stiff when disconnected from the moter.
