I need some info on exactley how and where to fish around St. George without a boat and what baits and how to rig.
I am taking my wife saltwater fishing for the first time when we come down there April 20 -23
and I am not exactley sure where to start. I don't care if we catch the worlds smallest fish as long as we have fun and catch some fish. I would like to fish more down there and taking her along is the best way to do it.

YOU CAN CATCH FISH ALMOST ANYWHERE YOU FISH AROUND THE ISLAND. I WOULD GET SOME 1/8 OZ. RED JIGS, SOME SALT WATER ASSASIN ELECTRIC CHICKEN, WHITE WITH PINK TAIL, CHARTRUISE SPECK SILVER, CANDY CORN, AND ANY OTHER BRIGHT COLORED GRUBS. OTHER GOOD PLUGS WOULD BE 52M24 BLUE BAACK SILVER SIDE MIRROLURE, BOMBER LONG (A) BLUE BACK AND SILVER SIDES, ANY OF THE YOSURI FLOATER DIVER BLUE AND SILVER, RED HEAD AND THE POPPER, I CAN NOT REMEMBER THE NAME OF IT RIGHT NOW. YOU CAN FISH THE JIGS WITH THE GRUB BY JUST BUMPING IT ALONG THE BOTTOM, OR IF THE WATER IS DEEP ENOUGH USE THE CAJUN CORK WITH THE JIGS ABOUT 18" BELOW THE CORK. I KNOW ALL OF THE ABOVE WORKS IN NEARLY ALL SALT WATER AND I HAVE USED THEM AT THE ISLAND WITH GOOD RESULTS. GOOD LUCK AND HAVE A GREAT TIME.

All the information that Pa gave you is great information. You may want to check in with Larry at Fisherman's Headquarters (Nextdoot to Harry A's) He will be able to tell you where to fish and what you need. Here is his web site.

If you want to mess around with the whiting and occassional pompano, use small (#4) hooks and small pieces of shrimp or sand fleas fished with a sliding egg or pyramid sinker. Fish just about anywhere on the Gulf side, look for darker water at the ends of the bars. More whiting have been caught in the State Park, more pomps to the west. Good luck!
