Everytime I go fishing I hope to learn something.
Today was no exception, On this site I've been given
the heads up on several places to avoid, like Death rock.
Now I get to add another to the list.

a few hundred yards south west of Black rock there is a
limestone toe just under water that put quite the notch in my
skeg. It was about 1 foot under water 2 hours after low tide.

Many of you may know of this, but it was news to me.

RX, my chart of the area shows platform ruins close to that spot . I dont know what its refuring to. Hopefully your prop wasent hurt.

RX, at those coordinates you're in what is referred to as The Rock Garden. Gray Mare and Black rock are the ones you hear about, but there are rock heads and outcroppings throughout that entire area. I hope you didn't tear things up too bad.

RX, thanks for the "heads up" and the reminder/reinforcement that no matter how much you work an area, there's still water on top of stuff!! You just never know FOR SURE I'll echo everybody else and say glad your OK and hope you didn't hurt your equipment.

I've always wondered where the rock garden was, I thought it was closer to shore, a learned another thing.

Lucky I had up graded to the stainless steal prop, no problem there, but it
ripped off my skeg guard, better it than the skeg.

I think I'm going to let things warm up for a few weeks then I'll be back.

The rock garden is an excellent area for trout and reds. Also, during scallop season we always carried a couple of pole spears on the boat for the flounder and sheephead around the rocks.
