FYI concerning Rock Guards

I noticed last Sunday that the prop would cavitate once I got on plane "not while taking off". It ran fine on Saturday and it had me doing all kinds of searching for the answer
After looking at everything and not seeing a problem, I noticed that the rod that runs from the cavitation plate down to the skeg was off center by about 1/16th of an inch
since that was the only thing I could find that was not perfect, I used a pry bar to get it exactly centered, took the boat out and it worked good as new
apparently it caused just enough turbulence when on plane to make the prop cavitate "figured out that my nephews boy had hit the trim switch down and really pressed the transom saver up hard against the rod on Saturday afternoon"
maybe knowing this will save someone else the headache of trying to figure it out at a latter date
