Hello all this is my first post on this board so hello all.
I'm going to be doing some wade fishing in Cedar Key this Friday. I was wondering if anyone has done fishing from shore lately there and has some advise before I go on a spot I may be able to get a bite? We are thinking of going to shell mound, are there any other spots that may be better? Thank You

Welcome curd.
Don't know much about the area myself. Hopefully someone does or can put you in touch with someone in the area. Good luck and we'll be looking forward to your report.
WELCOME

THERE ARE A LOT OF PLACES YOU CAN WADE IN, BE SURE TO HAVE STURDY BOOTS, THOSE OYSTERS WILL CUT PLASTIC SOLES TO SHREADS. JUST CATCH THE LOW TIDE AND YOU WILL HAVE ABOUT 3 HOURS OF GOOD FISHING AROUND THE OYSTER BARS. WORK ALL OF THE LITTLE CREEKS THAT COME INTO THE ROAD GOING TO THE KEY.

The only wade fishing I’ve done out of Cedar Key is from an anchored boat. You’ve got a good idea about Shell Mound. I was there four days ago with the kids (hiking on the trails) and at high tide there were mud minnows (huge) all over. Bring a castnet to get them guys. They work great for redfish.
Another wading spot to consider is in the Cedar Key cemetery (north side). Good luck.

Welcome to the club, Curd. Sorry, I have no knowledge of the Cedar Key area, but have always wanted to fish there. I would be interested in reading a report on how you do on that part of the coast! Come to the meeting on the 19th.

Do you have a boat?

Well Friday wasn't very good of day for fishing. We didn't bring in much of anything, I think the temperature dropped off too much. Can't complain though I was outside relaxing and having fun and thats all that matters. Thank You all for your help.
As for having a boat not yet, I usually go with my father-in-law on his boat but he had to work on Friday. I'll have me a boat in about a year's time, thats when the wife graduates and I'll have the money to buy one. Take it easy guy's.
