This morning I was riding down Baum road about 8:00 AM and got to witness a beautiful bald eagle sitting by the side of the road. Looks like it had a varmit of some kind in its talons. When I slowed down, it took flight with the critter in its grasp. Man, what a pretty bird to see up close like that!

Then, tonight on our way home through Southwood, the family and I witnessed a HUGE coyote crossing Longfellow Rd. right in front of the #2 green. One of the biggest I've ever seen :o

Not a big deal, but neat things to see around this area none the less.

P.S. Last week I was coming home around 9:30 PM on Old St. Augustine Road, when I spotted 6 deer just before Southwood Plantation Road. There was a nice buck running with them right down the side of the road. In all my years of driving that road, I've never seen a buck till then. Actually, in the last 2 years I have seen numerous deer around Paul Russell and Jim Lee Road where I grew up. Never saw deer there either in 30+ years living there. Things that make you go "Hmmmmmm."

The girls and I saw a Fox Squirrel in the median in SW one afternoon coming from Florida High. Had the opportunity to turn around to go back and introduce them to what a fs was.

I think I've seen only a dozen over my cityboy lifetime.

Dang and here I thought this thread was about FSU coeds lieing out in their string bikinis. :-D

Eagle...super cool! 8)

Coyote....not cool, you should have run that sucker over. Non-native and VERY destructive to domestic pets and other wildlife. :smt012

A month or so ago my 4 y.o. and I walked out of the house to leave. We look up and here comes a hawk hauling azz with a snake in his talons. Hot on his trail was a HUGE Bald Eagle! I guess he wanted that snake too.
Well in a split second the Eagle put on the brakes, and changed directions. Another hawk came dive bombing out of nowhere, and chased it off. I assume it was the other one's mate.
It all happened in about 5 seconds.

Last night there was a MASSIVE bald eagle off of Doyle Connor Blvd. It was one of the biggest ones I have ever seen.

I have seen over a dozen bald eagles this spring. Both days I fished Keaton for the NFGFC tourney, several off of Connor Blvd. (where the Atticus family lives), near Grey Mare Rock and in Grady County, GA.

We moved here a few years ago from a large metropolitan area--southern california. Never saw much more than pavement, stucco, people, cars and airplanes.

Now we still can't get over all the trees, let alone the deer cruising through our back yard or the small gators in some of the ponds. It's pretty amazing to our family.

They used to shut us down in Piney Z during eagle mating season. Some houses sat for months (unfinished) until the city gave them the green light to start building again. There's some good ones over there
