Lighthouse ramp

What size boat will it accomodate? Heard the prop wash is pretty bad and would like to keep my axles

I've seen 22' to 24" boats launch there. I don't think you'll have any trouble. What size boat?

The problem is not so much the ramp. I've personally never seen a trailer hung up on that ramp. Be aware of the tides. If you're attempting to leave from, or return to the lighthouse ramp on a low tide, you might not make it. There might not be enough water in the pool and canal to get a large boat out or in, or off of or on the trailer.

I haven't put in there lately, but never had a problem at the ramp. On low tide the channel at the jetties became a little difficult in a 19' flats boat.

It's best to go out on high tide and return on hight tide. In the fall & winter watch out for negative low tides. I've watched folks get stuck on the bottom in the gauntlet (100 yard channel) that leads to the gulf. In the fall, I've come into the channel almost WOT and still ended up pushing my way in with my push pole.
The only difficulty of the ramp is slipping off the left or right side. Small trailers will bottom out on the axles or springs. Never seen anyone go off the end and get stuck.
Here is what the gauntlet (100 yard channel) that leads to the lighthouse pool typically looks like on the way in from the gulf in the winter on a high tide in the pm.

If you get there and find it less than what you feel comfortable with you can back track to the Fort or Shields. Would probably add 30 or 40 minutes to your trip.
