Got a chance to take my wife fishing today, a bit breezy when we got there, but calmed down very nice later in the day.

We fished couple hours both side of high tide. Went west and caught a nice mack and a few short trout.

Decided to go trolling, now it get a little interesting, maybe.
I went striper fishing with my father-in-law in Augusta Ga.
Did'nt catch any but a learned quite a bit.
They use planers, (waterbugz), I thought they were cool.

So now I try them for Macks, It worked pretty neat.
They troll up to 4 knots and you can adjust them to any length.
We trolled one line out the back and one planner on each side.

I used a mack rig with 3 hooks with straws followed by a spoon.

Twice we hooked up with 3 fish on each planner, none on the one straight back. I know that a couple hours is not a good indication, but I'll let you know how it goes.

still enjoyed the day with my wife on the water. water temp 68.
the cold weather slowed things down a little.

Good report RX, I think I saw you launching.

I worked the flats from Rock Gardens to the oyster bars just inside East River and it was slow going. Fished with Gulps, live pinfish, and gold spoons.

Tally: 3 short Specs and 1 short Blue

Water Temp 67-69

Good report RX  Nice job of experiment'n and catch'n. I had a friend give me a bag of stuff that had belonged to his dad. There was a planer in the mix. May have to try it.

Sounds like if you get the bait from behind the boat it might be more productive.
