Carabelle 4-14-07 (***More PICS added***)

Arose this morning at 4:30am to head to Carabelle with my good friend Jeff. Got to C-Quarters promptly at 6:30am only to be informed that the tournament was off due to the weather 
It was a bit windy, but we came to fish and fish we were gonna do. My plan for the day was to start in the river anyhow, so that's what we did. We drove over to Dockside and launched at 7:00 am with 3 dozen live shrimp (BIG shrimp I might add thanks to Franks in Carabelle 
).
It was low tide but we had decent water movement at the first spot. So, out went the scrimps. About 2 minutes later, the rod bent over with the quickness......up came a nice flounder
Back out with the scrimp, and BAMMMM.......first keeper trout of the morning
We repeated this routine for the next hour hauling in keeper trout until the scrimp was gone. Put on a new penny gulp and BAMMMM.......We hooked and missed a few more and then decided it was time for another scrimp run. Just before we left, my little Zebco 33 was abused by a HUGE red. Got it to the top only to watch it run and snap the line.....the drag had apparently quit working, so that was short lived
Thirty minutes later we were back in the river and we picked up where we left off. This time the spanish and blues were getting in on the action......and this nice convict (black drum).
When the bite slowed a bit, we decided to try another spot since we had our limit of trout. ( By the way, none of the trout caught at this point were under 17"
)
Got to the next spot and proceeded to start catching puppy reds when this beast hit.....
Then this 32" one hit Jeff's line....
and another....
We played with the reds and a few small trout before running out of scrimp and deciding to call it a day.
The weather ended up being really nice in the river and the bite was steady all day until high tide around 1:30 pm. We had our 2 man limit of reds and trout and really hated the fact that the weather cancelled the tournament.....I think we would have given just about anybody a run today
